Public transport

Bicycles are allowed on some forms of transport in Auckland, but not all.

Ferries - Fullers Ferries welcomes bicycles on all of their ferry routes, and what’s more it’s free … great job Fullers!

Trains - bicycles are allowed on Auckland trains (sometimes – see below). There is a fee of $1 for each trip – this fee seems to be applied even if you have a folding bicycle. Further more, being allowed to take your bicycle onto the train is dependant on space and at the discretion of the on-board staff. Maxx recommends avoiding travel with your bicycle at peak times, as space is limited.

Buses - bicycles are not allowed on buses in Auckland, which is pretty crap really! However, if it is a fold up bike, it can be carried on free of charge.
