Interesting stuff update

A couple of interesting items have come at me in the last couple of days so I thought I’d share …

Sweden is planning to connect its cities Lund and Malmö by building a cyclist superhighway stretching over 12.5 miles. The four-lane highway will be designed to follow alongside railway tracks and have fences and bushes in place to offer cyclists wind protection.

    • Twelve miles one way is a bit on the upper limit of even a very bike-friendly culture. But of course the bike highway also caters for shorter trips “en route” – you don’t HAVE to go the whole way. And for all the “superhighway” monikers, will probably be about as expensive as building a new single-lane country road, so still a useful cost=benefit.
