Nice to see …

As Bicycle Canberra points out:

The City of Sydney is once again showing the rest of the country how to promote cycling culture with its new cycling infrastructure and promotion videos.

    • @Decanker I'll match your 'Shame about the helmets' and raise it with 'shame about the bikes'. I didn't see a mudguard among them. How uncity cycling is that?

    • Nice videos, can't say I'm impressed with the cycling infrastructure in them however and that doctor clearly isn't a real cyclist else she'd be chaining her bike up differently.

    • rtc, did you watch the same videos that I did?

video one, bike lanes on a major bridge

video two, choosing to use parks and quiet back streets to advantage and it looked like she was at an on street cafe in sight of her bike, so the chaining was what I'd use in that circumstance to deter an opportunist

video three, marked on street bike lanes (narrow, admittedly, but marked to put cyclists out of the door zone)

video four, shared ped/cycle facilities, two way greened bike only paths off street, segregated, two way, greened cycle lanes on street, water fountain for cyclists

      unimpressive? not in my book

    • I'm with you Steve. What is wrong with you cyclist. This web sites moto should be "cyclist, we are our own worst enemy".
I reckon the doctor was an actress, acting like a cyclist for a promotional video aimed at the non-cycling community who wouldn't know or care how to lock up a bike or about mudgaurds!
But hey, what do I know…

    • @BG No, the doctor is a real doctor, and has been on many TV programs in Australia off and on.Also she does like riding her bicycle.

    • Yawn BC, your missing the point. Its a TV add to promote cycling. No one will notice the detail, thats not the point! Why are people picking at it. Great she is a doctor, your splitting hairs and missing the point. Its a TV add.
