Interesting things are a foot in Australia … and watch out for …. ME! (there’s a bit of recycled footage from when I was in Australia)

And in the UK cars are starting to be seen in a different light

How many years behind do you think we are in NZ? … 50 years behind Copenhagen? 15 years behind the UK? 5 years behind Australia? What do you think?

Wouldn’t it be so much nicer to be ahead in something! Apart from traffic jams …

    • I've live in NZ for 4 years and can honestly say that riding (and driving ) in Auckland is one of the most unenjoyable experiences i've had… here's why:
      1) poor road quality – lanes just wide enough for a car let alone a bike
      2) selfish and arrogant car drivers
      3) lack of compulsory insurance for drivers = lack of responsibility – you can knock someone off , get done for drink driving and continue to drive because your insurance isn't affected
      4) ACC ! what a joke ACC = lack of responsibility again – "doesn't matter if i knock off a cyclist – ACC will cough up and i won't get sued"
      5) draconian helmet laws and the attitude of many (not all) kiwi citizens who preach on what you should / shouldn't do
      6) ridiculous road rules that would get laughed at anywhere else in the world – eg the give way to people on the right when turning left etc
I can't wait to move back to Europe where cycling is so much more enjoyable , fun , organised and safe.
Sorry Auckland – you need to catch up with the rest of the world. JJ
