I set off on my bike with the basket early this morning to take in Devonport and grab a coffee. The sun came out, the sky became all blue and a rainbow framed the City. I found myself singing Mama Cass’s ‘Getting Better Every Day’ as I cycled along, and noticed people smiling as I passed them. I loved the fact that I could lift the start of their day, even if it was only because I seemed like a Pollyanna.
Things really are getting better every day – July has been and gone- and we’ve have had plenty of calm sunny days. The humble bike is breathing life back into our community. It is helping change the streets of Auckland. More and more everyday people, are out on our streets enjoying sedate, fun cycling.
It really is getting better everyday!
You can hear Barbara from Cycle Action talking about the joys of cycling in an interview on Radio New Zealand with Jim Mora.
