Mountain Dew is running this crazy ad campaign involving an indoor SK8 park designed like a pinball machine. It’s going to be open to the public for one month starting June.
To launch Mountain Dew’s three new electric flavours, Frucor Beverages are taking skateboarding to the next level by building the world’s first PINBALL SKATEPARK.
Skate Pinball (www.mountaindew.co.nz) is an audacious project driven by three members of Mountain Dew New Zealand’s Ambassador sports programme. Haimona Ngata (BMX), Brett Band (Skateboarding) and Mike Bancroft (Skateboarding) have risen to Mountain Dew’s challenge to build their ultimate skate park using the three new drinks, each with an electric themed name, as inspiration.
Every part of the skatepark will look and function exactly like a pinball machine including flashing lights, rails, tunnels, amazing graphics, sound effects and a live scoreboard. Riders will be propelled like actual pinballs into a 600 square metre arena (20m wide x 30m long) where they’ll tackle obstacles, trip sensors, hit ramps and try to score the highest number of points possible. It’s “skate meets pinball” on an epic scale. The skatepark is open to skaters of any level and will be large enough to accommodate BMX riders too.
The skatepark will open with an Invitational Skate Competition run by Cheapskates on Saturday 4th June at 2pm and will remain open to the public to skate and ride right up to Sunday 26th June 2011.
