Auckland Peace Heritage Walk

Sat 18 and Sun 19 Sept, 11.00am

The Auckland Peace Heritage Walk was launched during the 2009 Auckland Heritage Festival as part of the World March for Peace and Non-Violence. This year the Walk invites runners and cyclists to participate as well. The event will begin simultaneously from the summit of Maungawhau (Mt Eden) and the VAANA mural at the corner of K Rd and Ponsonby Rd, and end at QEII Square. It is a self-guided route, with participants able to choose from the brochure provided which of the peace sites they would like to visit, and depending on what distance they want to cover.

This is an event organised together with the United Nations Association of NZ (Northern Region Branch) as a UN Peace Day event, and with Civic Trust Auckland, and is one of the events in the Auckland Heritage Festival. Walking and cycling groups, as well as families and individuals, are encouraged to participate.
